Applying for Student Staff Positions

Dear Applicant,

Congratulations on your decision to apply for a Marathon Hall Staff position!  We are excited that you have chosen to apply to serve your peers in this setting.  We hope that the selection process will be both a worthwhile and educational experience for you.  This webpage contains everything you need in order to apply to be a Community Advisor (CA), Community Coordinator (CC), or Summer Community Advisor. 

Please take the time to carefully read the information presented here.  Following this introduction, you will find job descriptions of each position, as well as the application.  If you have any questions about any of these positions or the application process, feel free to contact either the hall director or a current student staff member. 

To participate in the selection process, please note the following information:

1. Applications are available online only. You must print it off or email the completed application to the hall manager.

2. Please pay attention to the timeframe stated below.  Absolutely no consideration will be given to late applications.

3.  In order to be eligible, candidates must have and maintain the following GPAs: CA -- 2.3; CC -- 2.0.  You can not be on academic or disciplinary probation, must be a full time student, and have completed at least one semester of college credits (special considerations may be granted).

4.  All candidates must attend a group interview (see timeframe for date and time information). 

5.  Candidates will receive notification in writing prior to UWMC's spring break.  Final selection is subject to a satisfactory background check.

6.  Please pay special attention to the recommendation forms and information below. You must submit three (3) recommendations using the provided form to the hall director prior to the due date.

Staff Selection Process

Individual Interview

During the interview process, you will be asked questions as we try to get to know you and determine if you would be a good fit for the Marathon Hall staff.  It is important that you review the job description of the position prior to participating in this interview.  The questions asked in this interview will be specific to your skills, perceptions of the position, and your goals as they relate to the position which you are applying for.  This interview will last 20-30 minutes.    

Recommendation Forms

It is your responsibility to make sure that three (3) recommendations on your behalf are sent to the Residence Hall Director by the application deadline.  Be sure that your references clearly understand the position you are applying for and write their recommendation accordingly.  One reference must come from your current Resident Assistant/Community Advisor.  A past or current employer, a University or NTC faculty/staff are suggested for the other two references. 

You can print out the above reference forms, email them to your references, or pick hard copies up at the front desk.
