Instructor of Animal Biology needed for Fall 2008

Part-time instructor needed to teach two laboratory sections of ZOO 101, “Animal
Biology,” and a section of ZOO 099, “Basic Zoology Tutorial.” This position will
require 10.8 hours per week of in-class time, plus appropriate office hours.
ZOO 101 emphasizes general biological principles, including structure and
function of cells,
histology, embryology, heredity, ecology and evolution, a survey of the animal
kingdom, and structure and function of the vertebrate body, and most of these
topics are covered in the laboratory. The laboratory section meets for two hours
twice a week. All laboratory and course materials will be prepared by the
primary instructor of the course.
The ZOO 099 tutorial meets for two hours per week. The tutorial is intended to
provide supplemental instruction to promote the success of at-risk students
enrolled in ZOO 101. The tutorial is intended to provide supplemental
instruction to promote the success of at-risk students enrolled in ZOO 101. The
tutorial instructor is expected to be knowledgeable about ZOO 101 lecture and
laboratory topics.
Bachelor’s Degree in Biology or a related field is required, but a Master’s
Degree and teaching experience are preferred.
