Honors Program
The Honors Program at UWMC is designed to provide a
challenging and exciting alternative in undergraduate education.
Honors courses typically take the formal portion of a University
curriculum and expand upon presented ideas and concepts. This
provides an opportunity for enhanced knowledge and understanding
through research, creative thought, and independent learning.
Honors students benefit from the close interaction with their
professors, share many similar goals for their educational
attainment and fulfillment, and often benefit from collaboration
with other Honors students.
Students in the Honors Program may take as many or as few
Honors credits as they desire. Those who qualify are encouraged to
take at least one Honors course each semester.
Who Qualifies:
• Students who graduate in the top 15 percent of their high school
class
• Students who achieve a 3.5 grade point average or better after at
least one semester of a university education
• Students with an ACT score of 27 or higher or combined SAT
score of 1220 or higher
• Students who receive recommendations to attend Honors courses
